Vamsi K Ithapu
I was born in south India. For most of my childhood leading to higher secondary, I was brought up in the city of Hyderabad in south central India.
In 2006, I started my bachelors in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Guwahati. IIT Guwahati campus is located near the beautiful banks of river Brahmaputra in the city of Guwahati in north eastern India, and considered as one of most scenic in India. During the junior year, I spent three months in RWTH Aachen University in Germany pursuing an internship under the guidance of Prof. Thomas Deserno.
After completing my undergraduate in 2010, and prior to moving to the United States for graduate school, I spent a year working at the Acoustics Research Laboratory in the National University of Singapore.
I started my graduate studies in 2011 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, located in the American mid-west and in the beautiful city of four lakes. I joined the Masters program in Electrical and Computer Engineering, however, within a year I shifted to Computer Sciences and started my PhD under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Vikas Singh.
After completing my PhD in Spring 2018, I moved to the pacific northwest, and joined Facebook Reality Labs. I currently lead a research group in FRL Audio Research team, working closely with Facebook AI Research.
